Have you written down your yearly fitness goals?
Have you broken them down into quarterly goals?
Have you broken those down into specific tasks that you can accomplish on a daily or weekly basis?
Here is a simple version of this process:
Yearly Goal: Lose 53 lbs
Monthly Goal: Lose 4 lbs
Action Plan: There are approximately 3500 calories per pound; therefore I need to burn 14,000 calories per month. To burn 14,000 calories I will:
· Exercise 12 times per month
· Need to burn 3500 calories per week
· Need to burn about 500 calories per training day
· Need to consume 500 calories less per day not training
o Drink one less soda or mocha per day
o Eat one less Candy Bar per day
· Incorporate some form of strength training with cardiovascular training during each
training session.
· I will log activities I performed on a daily basis
This is very simple, but it involves a lot more thought than most people put into planning their workouts for the next year.
